FRIDAY, MARCH 21

Coffee Morning

Coffee morning at the West Church Hall, Dornoch, on Friday 10.30am-12pm. Freshly baked pancakes and scones. All welcome.

Film Festival

The In-Between Place Film Festival at Strathnaver Museum’s annex on Friday 6.30pm-8.30pm. Three short films from local filmmakers. A free event.

TALK

Lairg Local History Society talk in the Kinvonie Suite at Lairg Community Centre on Friday 7.30pm. Annette Parrott will give a talk entitled ‘The Maudslay Family and West Shinness Estate’.

SATURDAY, MARCH 22

Beach Clean

Beach Clean at Raffin Beach, just south of Stoer Head, on Saturday and Sunday. To volunteer, Facebook message Geoff Pringle.

Tree planting

Join Geopark education and engagement officer Jim Bunting for a day of tree planting on the Manse Road Peat Road in Kinlochbervie on Saturday. Meet at the high school at 10am or join in any time up to 3pm. Bring a spade. Email: education@nwhgeopark.com

Open day at Strathnaver Museum, Bettyhill, on Saturday 10am-2pm. Learn more about upcoming projects and exhibitions at the museum. Discover how you can get involved and shape the future of the museum.

Farmers Market

Farmers market at Edderton Community Hall on Saturday 10.30am-12.30pm.

Community Cinema

Community Cinema at Timespan, Helmsdale, on Saturday 11am-1pm. The 75-minute film Eating Up Easter will be screened. The most isolated community in the Pacific grapples with environmental and social challenges brought on by booming tourism and rapid development.

Live Music

Sutherland accordion and fiddle club musical evening at Rogart Hall on Saturday 8pm. Guest artiste is the Martainne Skene Trio. Entry £5 includes tea; under 16s £2. Dance to follow; BYOB.

Quiz Night

Quiz night at Dornoch Community Centre (social club) on Saturday 7pm for 7.30pm. £5 pp includes snacks and refreshments. Organisers will match up solos or pairs who would like to join others. TYKES quiz night at Brora Rangers Social Club on Saturday 7pm for 7.30pm. Teams of four to six; £5pp; raffle. A fundraiser towards the purchase of a car to transport young carers for respite trips.

Walk

Sutherland Walkers eight-mile trek up 847m Canisp, a Corbett in Assynt, on Sunday from 10.30am. Optional self-guided low level walk at Knockan Crag Visitor Centre. For more information contact walk leader David Hannah on 01863 766061.

Taster Session

Exercise taster session plus tea and cake at Bonar Bridge Village Hall on Monday 7pm-8.30pm Try your hand at Boxercise, HIIT, or foam rolling. A drop-in session.

Forsinard Trip

Trip to RSPB Forsinard on Wednesday 10am-4pm. Pick up from Lairg Community Centre car park 10am and Fountain Road car park, Golspie 10.30pm. A Lairg and District Learning Centre free event. To book, call 01549 402050.

Community Meal

Farr Eats community meal at Strathy Hall on Wednesday. The hall will be open from 10.30am serving tea and coffee, and meals will be served at 12.30pm. Free but donations welcome. To register your attendance, call 01641 521777.

Men’s Shed

A meeting to gauge interest in starting up a new Men’s Shed in Lairg takes place in the Kinvonie Suite at Lairg Community Centre on Thursday 7pm-9pm. Contact is Ross Murray 07777 134950; dev3@scottishmsa.org.uk
