Weatherman Sean visits north west Sutherland

In the sixth episode of Sean’s Scotland, in which STV’s Sean Batty embarks on a scenic journey across Scotland, he travels to north west Sutherland.

The programme will be broadcast on Monday, July 8 at 8pm.

The popular weatherman will visit Smoo Cave at Durness to understand the history of the sea cave and its popularity with visitors to the region, and at Quinag, he learns about the work of the John Muir Trust who maintain the mountains and surrounding wilderness while ensuring the area is accessible for outdoor enthusiasts.

Sean also visits the North West Highlands GeoPark to learn more about their work and the story of the landscape.

At Clachtoll Broch, he learns about the recent excavation of the Iron Age settlement which is uncovering how our ancestors might have lived.

While in Assynt, Sean also learns about the work and future vision of the Assynt Foundation.

During his visit to Sutherland, he meets artist Hope Blamire who talks of her love for Sutherland. Her beautiful work is inspired by the beaches of the west of Scotland.
