‘We are all dumbfounded at the needless damage’: Thieves break into Indian restaurant and takeaway in Brora

The operator of an award-winning Indian restaurant in Brora is appealing for information after returning from a break to find the premises had been broken into.

Syed (Sid) Miah, who runs the popular takeaway and restaurant Sid’s Spice in Station Square, said two of the business’s Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) payment tills had been stolen and a third one damaged.

He posted on social media: “Thieves appear to have broken in through a window to the kitchen. It is such a senseless robbery, as there was obviously no cash in the tills, and there is no resale value in the units, which are bespoke to the restaurant and its operation.”

He said CCTV footage was being examined in the hope of identifying the thieves.

“In the meantime we are appealing for any information that can assist us - it will be treated in the strictest confidence,” he said.

“We are all dumbfounded at the needless damage and that such an act of vandalism can occur in our lovely village.

“We will strive to open as soon as possible and would ask our customers to be patient as we get back to normal operations. Thank you.”

Sid’s Spice previously announced it would be closed between January 26 and March 12.
