Residents in Dornoch welcomed the town’s pipe band back to the Square for their first weekly parade of the summer season on Saturday May 28.
Dornoch Pipe Band made their long awaited return to regular parades after a two-year long hiatus due to Covid.
Spectators enjoyed a mixture of tunes from the band, Highland dancing and a chance to see old friends in favourable evening weather.
Led by Pipe Major William Fraser, the parade began at 8pm as band members marched from the square around the corner to Castle Street.
The band played a 6/8 set of Dornoch Highland Gathering, Braemar Gathering, Pipe Major Sam Scott and the slow air Highland Cathedral.
This was rounded off with a selection of 4/4 tunes, including Scotland the Brave and the Rowan Tree.
The performance was complimented by a display of Highland dancing.
Dornoch Pipe Band will play a part of the town’s Jubilee celebrations, opening the street party on the Cathedral green from 1pm on Saturday June 4.
