WATCH: Firefighters tackle house fire in Highlands believed to have been caused by lightning





Dramatic footage shows firefighters at the scene of this morning’s house fire in Aviemore.

It is believed that the blaze broke out in Grampian View after the property was hit by lightning during a storm which hit the village just after 10am.

Whilst it is understood that an ambulance was sent to the property there have been no reports of any casualties.

The BBC is reporting that an adult and two children were in the house at the time but escaped without harm.

The Strathy is awaiting further details from Police Scotland.

An eyewitness, who did not want to be named, told the Strathy: “Smoke is continuing to billow from the house. Devastating.”

The fire has caused extensive damage to the house.
