Ullapool community projects have been given a funding boost after the latest round of grants from the Broom Power Hydro scheme.

The Community Benefit Fund (CBF) is a partnership between the Lochbroom and Ullapool Community Trust (LUCT) and Lochbroom Community Renewables, also known as Broom Power.

A total of £9016 was awarded in the latest round of funding in June 2024, which came from the Broom Power Hydro scheme’s surplus income and from individual donations.

The recipients of the grants were:

• Ullapool Museum — Geikie Centenary exhibition, £1000.

• Ullapool Village Hall — all access pathway to Youth Space, £1731.

• Ullapool Flower and Produce Show, £1070.

• Scoraig Community Centre Group — defibrillators for the peninsula, £2000.

• Lochbroom Sailing Club — SCIO asset transfer costs, £1700.

• Ross and Cromarty Citizens Advice Bureau — Ullapool Outreach Project , £1515.

LUCT have also stated that there will be a second round of CBF funding in autumn, with dates to be announced on their website and social media pages.

LUCT said: “Our sincere thanks to the independent CBF panel of volunteers, whose work to award this funding is much appreciated. Panel members come from all parts of our community and meet once or twice a year to disburse available funds.

“If you would like to discuss joining the panel, please get in touch. You must be resident within the LUCT remit area, which extends from Elphin in the north down to Gruinard in the south.”
