Ullapool Church to host virtual 'Prom at Home'
PEOPLE in a North community are being invited to get their glad rags on and dance up a storm next week – regardless of the coronavirus lockdown.
The Prom at Home masterminded by Lochbroom and Ullapool Church of Scotland minister Heidi Hercus is an opportunity for people to celebrate and share virtually what they might have missed as a result of the virus in the safety of their own homes.
With prizes for best dressed, most creative participant and best dancers, the June 5 event hosted through the church Facebook page promises to be a bit of fun.
American-born Rev Hercus, graduated from the Highland Theological College in Dingwall and done placements in Rosskeen, Alness and Conon Bridge, said: "We want to make it as inclusive as possible. People can join in on watch parties or share their pictures or videos.I'm sure we'll muddle through!"
She said some school kids have missed exams, end of term celebrations and socialising with friends. She admitted: "It will be my first prom – I was a bit of an awkward teenager!"
