Ullapool Bookshop to host Q&A with Last Witch of Scotland author Philip Paris

Ullapool Bookshop is set to host a Q&A and book signing from the renowned author of The Last Witch of Scotland.

Philip Paris will be visiting the bookshop to give a 30-minute talk about the Scottish witchcraft trials of the 16th to 18th centuries, followed by a Q&A session and book signings.

His book, The Last Witch of Scotland, was published in April 2023 and is inspired by the by the story of Janet Horne — the last person in the UK to be executed for witchcraft in 1727, alongside her daughter.

At the court case held in Dornoch, they were both found guilty and sentenced to be executed the following day.

Fascination around the subject of Scottish witch trials has captured attention of readers native to the Highlands, and those visiting.

The free event will be taking place at 2pm on July 15, at Ullapool Bookshop.
