Go Wild was the challenge and pupils at Bonar Bridge Primary School took it up with gusto.

The youngsters all took part in the Wildlife Trust’s 30 Day Wild Campaign, encouraging them to explore the natural world on their doorstep. As can be seen from these pictures, the activities ranged from pressing wildflowers to making a den, building a cairn and cradling a hedgehog.

The children were presented with a seven, 14 or 30-day Wild Certificate, depending on how many activities they took part in.

Depute head teacher Anthony Sergeant said: “We’re all so proud of our children and families. This was real proof of our school community making the most of the time at home (during lockdown).”

A brand new Nature and Sustainability Award was presented to Chloe Sawyer at the school’s virtual prizegiving in recognition of her “keen understanding and interest in the natural world and how to create a more sustainable planet”.

Mr Sergeant said: “Chloe personifies this description and we were proud to make her the first recipient of the trophy.”
