Walkers 'with varying stages of wrinkles'

With ages ranging over 80 years, 26 walkers set out with varying degrees of wrinkles at the weekend to walk the 13 miles around the Kyle of Tongue.

The walk has become an annual event in support of the Scottish Bible Society’s “Walk for the Word”, which raises funds for translation and relief work in poorer parts of the world.

The focus this year is on Ethiopia.

Most completed the course, stopping for a picnic lunch en-route at Lochan Hakel in surprisingly mild weather.

The amount raised will be known once all the sponsor money has come in.

It is encouraging that the number walking was greater this year than in previous years, as was the volume of laughter and chatter, with no reports of blisters or aching joints.
