A north-west Sutherland school and preschool are among others across the region that will not be operating today.
Highland Council said Tongue Primary School and Kinlochbervie Preschool are closed.
The authority has cited "bad weather" as the reason for the Tongue closure while Kinlochbervie Preschool is not opening because of "unforeseen circumstances".
The schools appear on Highland Council's school closures list posted this morning.
Other schools affected are Kinlochleven High School and Kinlochleven Primary School.
