Tongue group offers free packs to promote interest in walking and wildlife

A north Sutherland walking group is offering free 'green health home packs' to families to encourage a greater interest in nature.

Tongue Walking Group, part of North Coast Connections, was awarded a grant from the Highland Green Health Partnership towards the packs.

A group spokesman said: "The pack is designed to encourage encourage both children and adults to take a greater interest in nature and the world about them, thereby promoting healthy walks outdoors."

Some 100 packs are available in a bio-degradable bag and containing a seed tray, seeds and compost, bag of bird seed, a bug trap and viewer, a pocket 3-strength magnifying glass, along with leaflets on wildlife around the Kyle of Tongue.
