QR Code Generator analysed Tripadvisor reviews to find the top-rated beaches in the UK. Beaches rated four stars or higher were ranked based on the percentage of five-star reviews compared to the total number of reviews.

Sandwood Bay came fifth with 88.10 per cent of reviews (185 out of 210) giving it five stars. Luskentyre Beach in Harris came first, second was Scarista Beach, also in Harris, while Camusdarach Beach in Morar and Marloes Sands Beach in Wales came third and fourth.

Balnakeil Beach came 17th with 84.79 per cent of reviews giving it five stars; and Dornoch Beach came 50th with 77.58 per cent.

Marc Porcar, chief executive of QR Code Generator said: “The research shows that Scotland dominates the top five when it comes to high ratings from visitor reviews.

“It is notable that most of these beaches are in remote locations, which is probably why they remain so picturesque and popular among visitors.”
