East Sutherland Rotary Club’s Primary School Quiz was held in Lairg Community Hall last week with entries open to schools from Lochinver and Kinlochbervie to Helmsdale and Bonar Bridge.

On the day eight teams fought out a very hard and competitive contest, under the testing questioning of Rotary’s Roger Boyce.

Once again, Dornoch Primary School won through but in doing so they only just pipped the team of very young and talented pupils from Rosehall, a school so small that 50 per cent of the whole school made up the team!

Dornoch’s victory is their third in a row and the fourth in a row for teacher Alison Alan as she also coached the winning Golspie team four years ago.

This year’s winning team received their trophy from Alistair Risk, the North of Scotland Rotary Youth Officer and a £50 prize for their school.

They now go forward to the semi finals in Dingwall and hopefully once again to the finals at the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen.

Catering for the quiz was generously supplemented by Harry Gow’s Bakery in Brora, and thanks went to everyone who helped in any way.
