A footballer turned ultra-distance adventurer had to finish early on day four of his North Coast 500 (NC500) fundraising run.

Inverness-based Steven Mackay posted on social media that he had to finish early following the first real issue with his legs.

His Twitter post read: "NC500 Challenge – didn’t go according to plan. Time to get some ice, rest and come up with a recovery plan."

He set off from Inverness Cathedral on Friday and he is aiming to complete the entire tourist route in just 10 days in aid of MFR Radio's Cash For Kids charity.
