POLICE have issued an appeal for help tracing a 13ft boat stolen from a layby.

Police Scotland said the vessel, which was tied to a trailer, was stolen in the early hours on Saturday morning.

They say the Dory-style boat was complete with a Mercury outboard motor.

It was in a layby on the A835 between Tore and Maryburgh roundabouts. The theft is believed to have occurred between 4am and 7am on Saturdaymorning.

Sergeant James Maciver said: “I would ask anyone with information regarding this matter to contact us.

"Understandably, this theft will come at great cost to the victim and any information would be greatly appreciated.

"In particular, I would ask motorists in the area with dash-cam devices to review their footage as they could have captured images which could assist in our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1590 of 11 September, 2021.

Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can give your information anonymously.
