A celebration is being planned to mark a £200,000 redevelopment of the Bradbury Centre in Bonar Bridge, which provides day care and other services for older people.

Contractors have been working over the past two months to extend a multi-purpose room and create a new dining space. A new office and toilet have also been established.

Staff provided a service from Invershin Hall while work was ongoing, but moved back into the new look unit on June 10.

Funding is now being sought to buy blinds and chairs for the extended room.

Manager Lorraine Askew said she was delighted with the redevelopment and a fundraising afternoon tea was now being planned for Saturday, July 6.

The centre is a registered charity run by a board of directors. Around half its annual running costs are met by NHS Highland but the unit has to make up the shortfall itself.
