A woman spat a drink in the face of another Easter Ross pub customer and then implied she had coronavirus.
The incident traumatised the man so much that he washed his face repeatedly in the bar toilet and then went for a Covid test – which ultimately proved negative.
The July 11, 2020 assault which 25-year-old Hollie Morris of Mansfield Estate, Tain admitted, was described at Inverness Sheriff Court.
The court heard that the incident in the town's Platform 1864 bar/diner in Station Road took place shortly after it re-opened following last summer's lockdown.
Sheriff Margaret Neilson was told that Morris walked into the beer garden and picked up the man's glass of slushy cocktail and began drinking it.
She then spat it in his face and remarked: "Get a grip, it's only coronovirus."
Morris was barred from the premises and the incident was reported to the police.
When charged, Morris told the officers: "I am extremely apologetic about what I have done."
Sentence was deferred on the first offender until May 25 for a background report and her bail was continued.
Defence solicitor advocate Neil Wilson said he would reserve his comments on her behalf until then.
