Swinging sixties event at Farr High School marks milestone anniversary
Farr High School, which opened in May 1964, has celebrated its 60th anniversary.
And the secondary school marked the milestone by inviting the wider school community and residents of the Bettyhill area to a swinging sixties event on Friday, May 31.
Pupils and staff got into the spirit of the decade by dressing up in colourful clothing of the 1960s.
An exhibition was created with pictures of the school and the events and activities that took place over the six decades. Tea, coffee and homemade cakes were on offer.
New 60th anniversary mugs, which had been specially designed by Benny Mackinnon and Lachlan Mackay, were on sale.
A spokesperson for Farr High School said: “It was lovely to welcome everyone to our 60th anniversary celebrations and we hope they had as much fun as we did reminiscing over the old photos.”
The school has just launched a new website containing a wealth of information and more pictures. It can be accessed at: https://sites.google.com/farrhigh.org.uk/farr-high-school/home
