Sutherland wildfire ranges over two square kilometres before being brought under control

Firefighters from Sutherland and Easter Ross were called out late yesterday afternoon to a wildfire at Easter Kincardine, near Bonar Bridge.

The alarm was sounded just before 4pm.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent out four units from Tain, Lairg, Dornoch and Golspie.

A spokeswoman for the service said the fire took over two hours to get under control.

Firefighters began to return to their bases around 6.30pm.

Some two square kilometres of vegetation were burnt.
