Dornoch mum Stephanie Wood has raised more than £900 for charity Reverse Rett through taking part in its 5x50 challenge.

The initiative saw her run, walk or cycle a 5k every day for 50 days.

Mrs Wood, whose young daughter Emilia, has Rett Syndrome, said: "We have had donations from people we have never met, who read articles in the Northern Times about the challenge and who follow Emilia's Facebook page."

And she enjoyed her outings so much - often taking Emilia in her pram on the walks - that she plans to keep going.

"We hope to continue with our 5ks over lockdown as it gives us a structure to the day and Emilia has enjoyed getting out and about," she said.

But it will be nice to know that I can give my legs a rest if I want!"

Reverse Rett provides support for families who have a member with Rett Syndrome and also funds research into the neurological condition.
