Highland Council is advising that two temporary overnight road closures will be in place in Sutherland next week in order for Network Rail to carry out works.

The first is the B871 Kinbrace to Syre road which will be closed from its junction with the A897 Helmsdale to Melvich road to its junction with the B873 Syre to Altnaharra road from 8pm on November 14 to 7am on November 15.

The road closure is necessary to allow Network Rail to perform rail works at the crossing.

To avoid the road closure an alternative route will be available via the A897 Helmsdale to Melvich Road, A836 Dornoch Bridge to John O'Groats road and a section of the B871 Kinbrace to Syre road.

The second temporary closure required for railway crossing works is on the U2560 Marrel road which will be closed to traffic from 8pm on November 15 to 7am on November 16.

There is no alternative route available during these closure hours.
