SUSPICIOUS activity near vacant properties in Sutherland and Caithness has sparked a police appeal for information.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information to come forward following incidents in the area around Rogart in Sutherland and West Watten in Caithness.

On Sunday a group of people in a grey coloured car and a black coloured van were seen at a property in the rural area near West Watten. And on Tuesday, two occupants of a grey coloured car were disturbed at a vacant property at Rogart.

Constable Claire Sutcliffe said: "We want to hear from anyone who may have any information which could assist us in identifying those involved in these incidents.

"I would also take this opportunity to remind those who may have any property which is vacant to ensure that they, and any outbuildings are fully secured and that they are checked regularly.

"Anyone who has any information which they wish to pass to us can do so on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 2780 of October 13."
