Steven Mackay makes good progress after switching from running to cycling following injury during his fundraising circuit of the North Coast 500 (NC500) in aid of MFR Radio's Cash For Kids charity which started in Inverness and took him through Sutherland

A footballer turned ultra-distance adventurer made good progress yesterday after he switched from running to pedal power on Tuesday.

Steven Mackay is currently in the middle of his fundraising circuit of the North Coast 500 (NC500).

He had to finish early on Monday after he injured his Achilles tendon and suffered from bad blisters on his feet.

His post on social media shows that he managed to get past Ullapool and covered just over 55 miles.

He set off from Inverness Cathedral on Friday and was originally aiming to complete the entire tourist route in just 10 days in aid of MFR Radio's Cash For Kids charity.
