It has also been confirmed that the drivers regroup will return to Dingwall Town Centre halfway through the rally due to the success the last time the event was held in 2020.

Organisers Highland Car Club made the announcement on social media that the event will return to stage the first round of the Scottish Rally Championship.

The 2021 event was cancelled due to safety precautions as a result of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Snowman Rally clerk of the course Andy Jardine confirmed that the start and finish line will be moving to the showground due to meeting Covid requirements.

“We are moving out of Inverness to Muir of Ord,” confirmed Jardine.

“The Black Isle Showground gives us flexibility with regards to Covid. If the rules stay the way they are and we are limited to 500 people, the Black Isle Showground has a fence around it where we can manage that.

“The driver’s regroup will take place in Dingwall High Street like we did in 2020 when it was a great success. Dingwall was very welcoming and there was a good crowd and it will take place after the third stage.

“We are hoping to do that again and get a buzz surrounding the event.

“We are reasonably confident things will sort themselves out and even if things stay as they are at the moment, we can still run an event.”

The 2020 Coogie Urquhart Snowman Rally was won by Michael Binnie and co-driver Claire Mole in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX.

The previous finish line was at Fairways Golf Club in Inverness with the drivers’ parade traditionally held in Inverness City Centre.
