Steven Mackay's progress during his fundraising attempt to get around the North Coast 500 (NC500) was hampered once again yesterday.

The footballer turned ultra-distance adventurer set off from Inverness last week and was originally planning to run the iconic route.

However, injury forced him to switch to pedal power on Tuesday after he injured his Achilles tendon and suffered from bad blisters on his feet..

Yesterday he managed to cover a distance of 46.46 miles after switching to a mountain bike after a chain snapped.

He was originally aiming to complete the entire tourist route in just 10 days in aid of MFR Radio's Cash For Kids charity.
