Sleigh bells set to ring as Lairg’s Winterfest makes its 2024 return
The sound of sleigh bells will be jingling once again this year as Lairg’s popular annual Winterfest event makes its return.
On Saturday, December 7, 2024 at midday, church bells will ring as the parade sets off from the Church Hill Wood shelter with reindeer from the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre pulling a sleigh carrying Santa and Mrs Claus up the Main Street to the Community Centre.
Santa’s reindeer will then spend some time from noon to 4pm at the Community Centre for people to meet while Santa and his elves attend to his grotto, welcoming well behaved children.
Winterfest goers can also look forward to the return of its Christmas market, with handmade crafts and other local produce on sale, complimented by a funfair, a café selling refreshments, children’s entertainment and Mr and Mrs Bubbles doing magic tricks and face painting.
Strathfleet Buttons and Bows will also be on the hand to play a mix of traditional and Christmas music, and throughout the day there will be plenty of wonderful and free Christmas based arts and craft activities (for all ages), run by the Lairg Learning Centre, the RSPB and Lairg Library.
Kaye Hurrion, LDCI’s Chairperson said: “ Every year our Winterfest event gets bigger and better, there are many free activities on offer for children and adults so come along and enjoy this special day!”
