Shoppers throng to first community market in Tain since lockdown
THE tills were ringing for many of the stallholders attending the first community market Tain has staged since lockdown – with some reporting their best take in two years.
A total of 19 businesses were represented at the outdoor event in Tain which was staged with coronavirus safety measures in place.
Sarah Mackenzie of Tain and District Development Trust said: "We had all necessary safety measures in place and yet it did not detract from the wonderful atmosphere that we are used to seeing at our community events. It was great to see how well supported the local businesses were.
"Many stallholders sold out on the day and for some this was their first opportunity to sell products in the last five months. Locals were delighted to interact with others in a safe environment and to see a buzz on the High Street once again."
One trader said afterwards: "Thanks for the lovely market! We had a really good day and it was so nice to see everybody! Those of you who couldn't make this one come to the next one it's such a nice event."
Several said it was great to be able to interact with people again.
