A 46 year old Tain man who had five previous convictions for domestic assaults appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court this week.

Stephen Hollis, originally from Kilmarnock, and now living at Craig Crescent in Tain, admitted assaulting his partner on April 5, 2020, in his home by pushing her on the body.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told this caused her to fall to the ground, strike her body on a table and be injured.

Because of his record, Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald deferred sentence for a background report until May 4 without hearing the full details.

The court was told that Hollis had left Kilmarnock last year and moved to the Highlands to distance himself from his peers and his partner, who had followed him north.

Hollis was warned that he could not return to his home address if his partner was still in the house or he would be arrested and held in custody.
