Sutherland primary school pupils have raised more than £800 for Eden Court Theatre in Inverness, which has suffered financially because of lockdown.

The 15 youngsters at Scourie Primary School and nursery embarked on an NC500 challenge during the school holidays.

The pupils individually walked, cycled or ran various distances on a regular basis then send in their mileage tallies weekly to Scourie teacher and mum Sian Curley.

The aim was to complete the 500 mile tourism route.

Mrs Curley said: "When the school reopened on Wednesday, the children had done enough miles to take them to the head of Loch Eriboll.

"Since then, between walking to school and daily miles in school, we have managed to do the remaining 37 miles and – virtually! – bring them home."

"They raised over £800 for Eden Court which they were very proud about."
