The Highland Council has confirmed that all Highland schools will be closed on Monday 4 June to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee following the go ahead from the Scottish Government.

All staff, including teachers, have been granted an additional annual leave day to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The decision to grant the workforce an additional leave day was taken by the Resources Committee on 1 December last year with the date – either Monday 4 June or Tuesday 5 June – to be determined following discussions with trade unions.

These have now been held and the Monday chosen.
