Tain Gala Association has announced plans for this year's pet show as part of the royal burgh's eagerly anticipated week of fun.

The popular event will be staged on Wednesday, June 29 at Tain Links from 6.30pm.

There will be classes for puppies (under one); small dogs; medium dogs; large breed dogs; rescue dogs; veteran dogs (over seven); feline friends; farm animals and exotic pets.

There will also be a prize for best-dressed pet.

There will be an entry charge of £3 per animal per class.

This year's additional prizes for the class winners and championship trophy have been sponsored by Johnston and Farrell veterinary surgery.

The gala opens tomorrow with a fancy dress competition along with a crowning ceremony, Royal Burgh of Tain Pipe Band display and Highland dancers.

Other highlights during the week include a Wednesday afternoon tea and dancing, a children's show with Arti and his Singing Kettles and a country night featuring Steven Smyth. Also planned is a teddy bear's picnic, walking football, Tide Lines in concert and a Saturday parade on July 2.

Tain Gala Association has posted its full programme on its Facebook page.
