Rogart residents answer call to stand for community council

It was their last chance to form a community council and Rogart and district residents have responded to the call to put their names forward.

The community was the only one in Sutherland to fail to form a council when nominations were first invited last year, but have more than made up for it second time around.

A grand total of 19 nominations were submitted to Highland Council by today's deadline - more than twice the number required.

Ward manager Phil Tomalin said it was a "fantastic result"

And it means that an election will now take place as there are only eight places.

Ballot papers will be issued by post to all registered electors in the Rogart Community Council area.The papers must be returned in the pre-paid envelope provided by noon on Wednesday, March 26.

The names of those standing are: Chrissie Allan, Liz Allan, Rachel Allan, Dave Brampton, Fiona Davie, Jennifer Duncan, Matthew Fox, Charlotte Gibson, Claire Gordon, Jonathan Hedges, Karen Mackay, Mairi Mackay, Amy McHardy, Brenda Minall, Frank Roach, Christine Ross, Shannon Ross, Chris Spratt and Tommy Sutherland.
