Highland Council has revealed the number of nominations received in the community council elections following the October 29 deadline,

In Sutherland, one community council has fallen by the wayside, another is to have an election and the remainder have reformed without contest.

There are 17 community councils across the length and breadth of the county.

Rogart Community Council failed to attract enough support from local residents and will now fall into abeyance

There is scope next year for the council to restart – but for now it will not be operational.

Golspie Community Council is to have a postal election after nine nominations were received for eight places.

Ballot papers will be sent out on Friday, November 15, and must be returned by noon on Wednesday, December 4.

The remaining 15 Sutherland community councils attracted more than half the maximum membership, allowing them to restart from last Friday.

Of the 156 community councils in the Highland Council area, 124 are having elections, 16 were uncontested and another 16 failed to attract enough nominations.
