River Brora water bailiffs invite young people to try their hand at fly fishing

Water bailiffs on the River Brora and local fishers are holding an Introduction to Fly Fishing youth training day on Sunday, September 19.

A social media post states: "The event is aimed at showing youngsters the basics of fly fishing. Parents and adults are most welcome to come along to watch or to take part."

The youngsters who attend will practise dry casting on the grass and river bank. Rods will be available and local anglers will help with instructions and advice.

Information will also be given on the life cycle and identification of salmon and sea trout and the conservation policy and law based around migratory fish.

The post continued: "We also hope to show how we carry out juvenile fish surveys using an electro fisher (river conditions allowing).
