Pupils practising hard for East Sutherland schools’ ceilidh dancing competition





A popular schools’ ceilidh dancing competition will take place on Friday, February 21.

East Sutherland Schools Sports Association (ESSA) is holding the annual competition at Brora Primary School.

This year the pupils will compete in four dances - Strip the Willow; Virginia Reel; Canadian Barn Dance and Britannia Two Step.

The competition is followed by a fun and social ceilidh for everyone.

Active schools coordinator Elissa Stevenson said: “All the schools have been practising during school time and after school. A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers involved in leading these sessions.”

A raffle will be held at the event in aid of ESSSA (donations welcome) and Brora Primary School PTA will provide teas at the break. Capaldi’s of Brora will be selling ice cream and sweets.

Elissa said: “Any previous winners from past competitions are welcome to come along and take part in the end of evening ceilidh.”
