Pupils mark Helmsdale lollipop lady's retirement

She has ensured that Helmsdale pupils have crossed the busy A9 and made it to school safely for 13 years, but now 'lollipop lady' Sheila MacLeod has retired.

And teachers and pupils were determined to mark both Sheila's birthday on September 17 and her departure.

Teacher Shelly Taylor said: "All classes walked up for the end of the day to say a fond farewell to Sheila. The children sang Happy Birthday and gave gifts and cards to say thank you."

The gifts were handed over by the schools oldest and youngest pupils, Zoe Sutherland P7, and Connall Withey, P1.
