POLL RESULT: Majority of residents in Sutherland and the rest of the Highlands would support Scottish independence if a referendum was held on the proposed date of October 19 next year according to latest poll

According to a recent poll the majority of Highland residents said they would support Scottish independence if a referendum was held next year.

Yesterday First Minister Nicola Sturgeon that one should be held on October 19, 2023 and the SNP-led government published the Scottish independence referendum bill

We asked readers whether or not they would support independence if the referendum was allowed to go ahead by the UK government.

A total of 65 per cent of those who took part said they would while 32 per cent said they would not and three per cent said they did not know.
