Police enquiry launched into attempted murder of teenager in Wick

POLICE have cordoned off an area of Macrae Street in Wick as enquiries are ongoing into the attempted murder of a 17-year-old.
Vehicles are currently being diverted around adjoining streets and a man who allegedly walked through the barrier tape was issued with an on-the-spot fine.
A police spokesperson said: "Police enquiries are continuing following the attempted murder of a 17-year-old man in Macrae Street, Wick, around 11pm on Thursday, August 20. The injured man was taken by ambulance to Caithness General Hospital then later transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he is being treated for his injuries. Hospital staff describe his condition as serious but stable.
"Officers are currently carrying out enquiries in the local area and three men aged 18, 24 and 31 years and a 30-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with this incident.
"Detectives in Caithness are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information, to contact their office through 101 quoting reference NJ1450 of 20th August. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
