Police have confirmed that the body found in the Thurso East area yesterday afternoon is that of missing man Stephen McGurk.

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

Police are continuing inquiries into the death and are keen to piece together Mr McGurk's last movements.

Officers are keen to speak to a man wearing a fluorescent jacket and dark hat who was seen walking his dog in the Thurso East area between 3pm and 4pm on Sunday, 5 February.

This person may be one of the last people to have seen Mr McGurk before his disappearance and Police would urge him to come forward with any information he may have.

The number to call is Thurso Police Station on 01847 893222.

As a result of the Police media appeal, which included Facebook and Twitter, officers received crucial information from the public regarding sightings of Mr McGurk, some of which led Police to the area where his body was found.

Police would like to thank the public for their support.
