Highland Housing Alliance lodges plan for mix of houses and flats in north town

DOZENS of new houses and flats could be built on a hillside on the outskirts of Dingwall.

The Highland Housing Alliance has lodged an application to erect 14 homes and 20 flats on a gap site off St Andrews Road in the northern end of the town.

The new estate road would link to existing housing to the east and west between St Andrew’s Road and Macbeth Court as part of the local distributor road.

The site is already zoned for housing under the Inner Moray Firth local development plan.

In a supporting statement lodged with the application, Highland Housing Alliance said: “The housing mix is based on known local demand and seeks to provide 14 three-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes, alongside two fourplex units of four two-bedroom flats each, and two flatted units comprising of four two-bed flats and two one-bed flats each.

They added that the “final design proposal locates the houses on two roads which work with the contours” of the “very steep” site.

“The pitched roof forms and the colour palette has been chosen to reflect that of the local vernacular,” they continued. “The housing is simple, well designed, and efficient and the semi-detached units are a key part of the economic and environmental assessments resolved for the scheme.”
