PICTURES: Images of partial solar eclipse captured from Coul Links by Easter Ross woman

AN Easter Ross woman captured images of last week's partial solar eclipse while out walking her dogs.

Lynda Simpson from Kildary had hoped to take photos of the phenomenon and managed to grab these last Thursday while at Coul Links.

She said: "I was specifically hoping to take some photos of the partial solar eclipse and managed to capture these in between the clouds rolling in."

The partial eclipse, in which the moon seems to take a bite out of the sun, attracted much attention last week.

The eclipse happens when the moon passes in front of the sun blocking its light. It occurs once every one or two years, but each time it can only be seen in certain parts of the world.

This time the eclipse was visible from the Earth's northern hemisphere, offering countries north of the equator – including the UK, most of Europe, Asia and much of North America – the chance to see the solar event.
