PICTURES: Farr Primary School at Bettyhill ends term with awards ceremony, Mad Hatter’s tea party and sporting contest

It was a fun-filled day at Farr Primary School in Bettyhill on Thursday, June 20, writes principal teacher Ashley Wakeling.

Pupils, their families and the wider school community gathered first for an awards assembly to celebrate successful learners from across the primary school and then for sports activities.

There were special mentions for Rhiannon Gilmour-Sutherland (6) and Paige Mackay (8) who received the Geoff Stanley Awards for Empathy and Great Improvement respectively during the school year.

We bid a fond farewell to pupils in P7 as they move on to Farr High School and we celebrated their achievements during their time at Farr Primary.

A ‘Mad-Hatter’s Tea Party was organised by Carley Mackay, our new school cook, and there was an amazing spread of all sorts of treats on offer for children and families alike, including a chocolate fountain, which proved very popular. The outfits were as incredible as the food on offer and everyone enjoyed the bouncy castles in the school playing field.

To round off the day, the primary school held its ‘Shield Day’ on the school field, with the three houses competing for the Jeanette Mackay Shield.

Several fun activities, including a monkey race, longest handstand and team water race, contributed to each house’s overall score. Hope and Loyal came a very close joint second, just one point behind Klibreck who won the day with 16 points.
