The first instalment of one of the most rural music festivals in the UK was a “brilliant weekend” with hopes high of a return next year.

Made In Altandhu took place between August 30 and September 1 at Port a Bhraigh Campsite in Coigach, 25 miles drive north-west of Ullapool as the crow flies.

The event saw 13 bands, including the likes of Fleeting Rumours, The Kinks Experience, Hardwicke Circus, Félix Rabin, Pretend Beatles and Kate Taylor perform against a stunning backdrop.

Dubbed a great success by many attending, around 220 tickets for the festival - with a capacity of 300 -were sold. However organiser David Mundell was upbeat.

He said: “For the first ever festival, I think that’s pretty good! It was a tremendous success. We introduced a lot of people to the the area who haven’t been here before and they were just blown away by it.

“People loved the eclectic mix of artists, and the fact that the festival wasn’t in front of 4000 people. The demographic was older, but that’s what we aimed for.

“It was a really, really good weekend — everyone wants it to be an annual event.

“My favourite part of the weekend was seeing it all come together, coupled with great weather! A success all round, so I’m very pleased — and very tired!”

Some attendees took to social media to share their thoughts.

Jan Trumble wrote: “An absolutely brilliant weekend — we will definitely be back if you do it again next year.”

Richard Gibson said: “This micro festival is in an absolutely beautiful spot, right on the coast. Good accessible road, totally picturesque setting. Very clean toilets and washing facilities, great food and drink outlets. The festival is small and very friendly and set within a campsite, so you can pop back to your tent or camper for a breather between music acts.

“In terms of music, this event is curated and organised by Mundell Music, so you get top quality bands and great sound, lighting, security and organisation. Highly recommended.”

Simon Beeson stated: “Great weekend, loved the eclectic music. My wife enjoyed it even though camping isn’t her thing. Would definitely be back next year, and will spread the word amongst friends.”
