A MASSIVE auction hosted in Ross-shire’s county town has delivered a hugely welcome boost to two Highland charities providing a lifeline service to locals at their time of greatest need.
Dingwall Mart hosted the Big Highland Auction back in November of last year, raising a staggering £129,000 in just one day thanks to the generous support of donors,
sponsors and members
of the public.
Lots up for grabs ranged from a Manchester United shirt signed by Cristiano Ronaldo to a pedigree bull and holiday breaks.
A quad bike gifted by local business Frank Nicol was the highest selling auction item on the day, pulling in £7200.
The cash raised was split between Maggie’s Highland and the Highland Hospice.
A cheque was presented to each charity at the mart this week with each welcoming a £64,530 boost to their offers.
The ambitious target of £125,000 was exceeded on the day as people dug deep to chip in.
A total of 496 items were donated.
Dingwall and Highland Marts said: “A huge thank you to everyone involved and a massive thank you to all our staff who helped make this sale a great success – we can’t operate as a business without this very dedicated team.”
The event was sponsored by MacGregor Industrial Supplies, Ross-shire Engineering, Global Infrastructure and The Port of Nigg.
