Drivers are being advised that part of a Sutherland road is set to close temporarily to allow work to be undertaken.

The road affected is the B873 Syre to Altnaharra road which will close between its junction with the A836 and the B871.

A stretch of a Sutherland road is set to close for around four weeks from Monday, July 12.
A stretch of a Sutherland road is set to close for around four weeks from Monday, July 12.

The closure will be in place for more than four weeks from next Monday, July 12, to Friday, August 13, between the hours of 7am-6pm each day.

A Highland Council spokesman said the closure was necessary to create a safe working area to allow for patching to single track sections of the road with narrow or soft verges.

Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and pedestrian access and refuse collection will be controlled.

To avoid the road closure an alternative route will be available via the A836 Dornoch Bridge – Tongue – John O’ Groats Road, and the B871 Kinbrace – Syre – Strathnaver – Bettyhill Road.
