Organisers ‘absolutely buzzing’ to welcome competitors to inaugural Race to the Base in Lochinver





Organisers of an inaugural half-marathon in Sutherland say they are “absolutely buzzing” with excitement to welcome competitors.

The 13.1 mile out-and back-trail race will run from Lochinver to the base of the north face of Suilven on Sunday, May 11. All 250 places for the “challenging but fun” race were snapped up shortly after they were made available.

The challenge was initiated by two friends, Oliver Appleby and Paul Redgewell, who both live and work near Lochinver.

The race starts at Culag Park at 11am and finishes at Lochinver Breakwater from 12.15pm. Spectators of all ages are welcome.

Prizes for the top three male and female finishers will be presented at Assynt Leisure at 2pm.

Organisers said in a social media post: “We’re absolutely buzzing to welcome you to this unforgettable trail running extravaganza.”
