A WOMAN has been taken to hospital following a three-vehicle crash on the A9.

The collision took place at the Knockbreck junction at Tain at 11.45am.

The road was partially blocked following the collision, and officers were still at the scene at the time of writing (1.30pm).

There were no further details as to the nature of the woman’s injuries, or whether anyone else was hurt.

A police spokeswoman said: “Officers received a report of a crash involving three vehicles on the A9 at 11.45am.

“One woman was taken to hospital and recovery of the vehicles is under way”.

At least two of the three vehicles are understood to be cars – a Renault and a Peugeot – but there were no further details as to the make or model of the third.

Traffic Scotland has warned motorists on the A9 to expect slow moving traffic in the area around the Tain bypass until after the vehicles are recovered.

The Knockbreck junction is a notorious accident blackspot, and a reduced 50mph speed limit was only recently introduced on the Tain bypass in a bid to cut the number of crashes at the site.
