A syndicate of 14 staff from Ross-shire Engineering in Muir of Ord are celebrating after scooping a £99,307.90 prize in the EuroMillions draw on Friday, March 22.

Delighted members of the ‘Ross-shire Engineering Syndicate’ will take home over £7,000 each after they matched the five main numbers and one Lucky Star number in the draw. The syndicate, who have bought tickets each week for the last 15 years, were over the moon to pocket the big win.

The syndicate members are already discussing what they would like to spend their money on, with exotic holidays and possibly a new motorbike, for one of the syndicate members, on the cards. But the first thing the lucky winners spent their money on was a celebratory drink together at their local, The Ord Arms.

The 14 members of the Ross-shire Engineering syndicate who have opted to share their news are: Eileen Logan (59), Graeme Sutherland (37), William Weatherall (55), John Finlayson (63), Ian Beaton (58), Duncan Maclennan (60), William MacPherson (44), William Morrison (57), George MacLeman (65), Ian Ross (59), John Bisset (47), Jack Shepherd (57), Andrew MacDonald (58) and Douglas Kelly (73).

Syndicate member Eileen Logan works in the Ross-shire Engineering office and takes charge of putting on the syndicate’s weekly tickets.

She said: "We’ve had our syndicate since about 2004 and I normally pop to our local Co-op every Thursday to check tickets and put new ones on. My most recent visit was really unexpected, especially when the shop assistant handed me back our winning ticket saying it was too big to pay out!

“I took it home and immediately checked the numbers against The National Lottery website. I must’ve sat at the screen staring at it for ages before it sunk in. I then called Camelot who confirmed we had a winning ticket, I was just delighted!

“The guys were all so excited when I told them and everyone is very happy for us. I’ve certainly not had a lot of peace at work this week and our boss is very pleased for us – although he said he was glad it wasn’t a bigger amount as he would be losing a lot of his workforce this week!”

The ‘Ross-shire Engineering Syndicate’ bought their winning EuroMillions ticket from the Co-op store on Great North Road in Muir of Ord. The syndicate’s winning numbers for the draw on March 22 were 4, 17, 26, 30, 43 and Lucky Star number 6.
