A member of Highland Rugby Club has tested positive for Covid-19.

The club announced on their social media channels this morning that one person in their senior training squad had a confirmed case of coronavirus, but had no reason to believe it was transmitted through the club or that anyone else at Canal Park would be affected.

Their statement read: "Highland Rugby Club have been made aware that a member of the senior playing squad has tested positive for Covid-19.

"We have had extensive contact with NHS track and trace and health protection, and they are confident the player in question did not contract or spread the virus to or from any contact at Highland Rugby Club and that no further action should be taken.

"Health protection are satisfied that our Covid-19 procedures and policies are both effective and safe, and that the senior section can return to training as is normal for this time."

Highland also reminded all players of their duties to sign up in advance for training sessions, wear a mask, bring their own sanitiser and respect social distancing.

Highland have been back in training since August 1, with players split into training groups and a one-way system in place at Canal Park.
